Kodak ESP 7 All-In-One Inkjet Printer (AS IS) Description: · This is a listing for a pre-owned and almost vintage “Kodak ESP 7 All-In-One Inkjet Printer” at different stages of working condition. It does come with a power cord and semi filled used ink cartridges as well, not pictured but inserted and in use by the unit nonetheless. · The reason that this item is being listed “AS IS” is because even though the printer itself along with all of its features work just fine, the usage and maintenance cleaning of the printhead for this unit can not only be time consuming but also resource wasteful this includes being ink intensive as well. · The ink cartridges themselves, of which it only uses 2; one for black and another for colors, are refillable and there is no need to buy specially made refillable ink cartridges. However, the replaceable chips that the ink cartridges use are not resettable nor can you get or make any of them resettable at all because the printer registers and keeps in memory every serial that it sees in every ink cartridge that is installed and used. Not only that but the printer already has a preset amount of ink, which is not much, that it will use before it considers that a new ink cartridge is needed regardless of whether the cartridges themselves can be filled to more than twice that amount. The only way to get around this issue is by having more than 20 ink cartridges or 20 separate replaceable chips for each the black and color ink cartridges because the unit can only register up to 20 cartridge serials in memory before it starts to drop off the oldest serial registered. This means that you cannot beginning to reuse your oldest ink cartridges or replaceable chips until after the 21 st ink cartridge or chip has been used or replaced from the cartridge itself. · Overall what all of these means is that you will have to invest a lot of extra money for ink cartridges right of the bat and this issue is compounded whenever you have to do a normal printhead cleaning using the options in the printer which it uses ink to do such cleaning every time. On the upside, the printhead is removable for a DIY cleaning using printhead cleaning solution but should you use that route it can take several tries to get the printer to print right without any missing colors or streaks which again it uses up ink every time you have try. · In addition, another issue that you should also be aware regarding this printer is that once the printer believes that it needs an ink cartridge change that no other functions are accessible at all, including the menu and scanner, until the ink has been changed. Furthermore, since this printer is an older model it might not work with the latest operating systems which it will most likely affect Mac OS defiantly and windows 10 and up. It has worked with windows 7 before and it has not been tested with any Linux distributions but given Linux’s reputation to work with older model computers and hardware, it is very likely that it will at the end of the day. · As it stand now, the printer isn’t printing right or constantly since it has been in storage for a while and it will require anywhere from several printhead cleanings to possibly a new printhead itself, if all else fails. Having said all that, it is still possible to get this printer to work and when it works it does a very good and immaculate job specially when it comes to printing photos for a printer of its time but to do this you will need an ink refillable kit, 21 ink cartridges for both black and color cartridges or 21 extra replaceable cartridge chips again for each black and color cartridges and possibly a new printhead itself given its age. · This is a closeout item meaning that there will be no returns taken due to: buyer’s remorse, unwanted item or no valid reason for wanting to return the item.
